5 Things to Do When Touring an International School Campus

As a parent, choosing an international school can be both stressful and confusing. There are plenty of things you need to consider and there is lots of research that must be done. It is not as simple as dropping them off on the first day and hoping everything goes well. During the screening process, it is important to schedule a tour of the campus before choosing a school. While there, remember these points.

  1. Take Your Time – When you book a tour of the campus, do it on a day where you have plenty of time to look around and spend time at the school. There is no point in visiting for 30 minutes on your lunch break and rushing around the campus. Do it on your day off, so you have time to wander around classes and mix with students and staff. If you want to know more about international schools in Bangkok, visit websites like https://basis.ac.th/ and browse through their content.
  2. Map Out the Day – You should have a good idea of what you are doing from start to finish. Do not arrive at school and wander aimlessly around looking for things to see and do. Look through their website and make sure you are familiar with the layout of the campus. If you have any questions, make sure you clear them up before you arrive at the school.
  3. Speak to Students & Staff – Visiting an international school is your only opportunity to speak to admin staff, teachers, and students. You are in their environment and you will learn a lot from people who are there daily.
  4. Observe Classes – While you look around the school, make sure to observe classes and see teachers in action. You will want to know how they interact with other students and whether they create a positive learning environment.
  5. Explore the Campus – Take your time and explore as much of the campus as possible. Look at the noticeboards, read through the school’s achievements, and assess the condition of classes and other amenities. Does the school provide excellent facilities that are kept in great condition?

When choosing an international school, carrying out lots of research and speaking to other parents is important. When you are done with all the background checks and reference gathering, remember to book a tour around the campus. It is one of the most important parts of the selection process and should never be overlooked.
