How far should the residence be from the college?

It is ideal to have a residence which is as close to the college as possible. The Arc is one such luxury student housing that is situated right opposite the gate of the University of Manitoba. The closer you stay to college the better. It will help you to cut down on the cost and effort of commutation.

What amenities should your building have?

There are certain amenities that your building should have. This includes a superstore, gym, business centre and a state of the art study lounge. Each of these has a key role to play. When you have a superstore in the building, you can easily rush down to get the groceries especially when you have forgotten to stack your pantry. Having a gym is essential because as a student you also need to take care of your physical health. Constantly sitting and slouching over the laptop can take a toll on one’s body. When your body is fit, it also positively impacts your mental space. It is always a plus to have multiple commercial businesses and restaurants in and around the residence.

Will there be parking available?

If you are taking your car with you to college, it is essential to know whether there is enough parking space or not. Residences like The Arc have limited parking spots and you can let them know whether you would like to rent the space or not. They also provide free bicycle stand.

Should the room be fully furnished?

It is always best to opt for a fully furnished room. Moving to a residence is not an easy task. Especially when you have to carry everything, things can get extremely stressful. The residence should have a bed, study table and kitchenette. It is also essential that the room has WiFi. High-speed internet is a must these days. With everything moving online, it has become imperative to have access to high-speed internet. In the rooms, by The Arc, each room is equipped with a Smart Tv.

What to do when there is a plumbing or an electrical issue?

The mere thought of some power issue or plumbing issue taking place in your room can induce anxiety. Not everyone knows how to deal with these things. Housing facilities like The Arc have 24 hour on-site Community Assistants. Whatever you need help with, you can simply reach out to them.
